• Genealogy is a perfect subject for producing your own web site.
• There is no better way to reach possible new relatives, than someone using a search engine to find a connection with one of your surnames.
• It is possible to produce a simple web site without any prior detailed knowledge of how a Web Site is produced. There are so many sites providing free guidance that I am using my experience to point you to many of the most interesting ones.
• However I hope to heighten your enthusiasm, by tempting you to follow a simple path, of coding some simple examples.

• This will involve you firstly understanding two simple principles, the first relating to
  H(yper).T(ext).M(arkup).L(anguage) HTML that provides the "Tags" ("p"is a paragraph example) that controls the markup of the content of the page.
• The second applying a style to your first HTML file using C(ascading).S(tyle).S(heets) CSS.
  We will learn more later about CSS as you work your way through tutorials and download simple CSS sheets to test out.
• To understand how a Website is constructed you should start with the basic building blocks, which are HTML and CSS.
• Each Tag is made up of a start tag < > and an end tag < / >, in the case of "p" the paragraph tag it is shown as opening tag <p> and closing tag </p>. The information contained between those tags is dealt with in a consistent way, in that every time you enclose text with this tag, it forces a new paragraph.
• If you are viewing a Website in your Browser window you will see that there is a drop down menu called view.
  Choose source from the list and a page will appear with the web page shown as an HTML file.
  Some may not be instantly recognisable to you as HTML,but if you look at some simpler Web pages you will understand more clearly how they are set out.
  Now open this HTML file then view HTML Code under View-Source. Some styling has been applied
